Release Info for TMS - version 11.3.0 - Release Date: June 16, 2014

Introduction

This document describes the changes that have been made in this release of the TMS system. Please make sure to read this entire document and make any changes to your processes and procedures as necessary.

Additional Products Needed

This version of the TMS can be used with the Media Adaptation Tool (MAT) version 6.0.3 and above.

Functionality Incorporated into this Release

This release provides the ability for users to upload the core assets via Aspera and also some speed enhancements to the Sending and Download History pages. A new browser warning will be displayed if you use Internet Explorer 8 to access the site.

Aspera Upload

Feature Description

Aspera faspex™ is software that facilitates the high-speed transfer of assets over the Internet. This is now available to users uploading assets to the TMS core assets.

Who Does This Affect?

This change can potentially affect all users, although you must have the Aspera client software installed to take advantage of it.

What Does this Mean to Me?

If you do not have Aspera then this change will not affect your use of the TMS. If you have Aspera installed, when you select to upload an asset and complete the Add form the pop-up window will prompt you to use either Silverlight (the current method) or Aspera. Selecting Upload with Aspera will use the Aspera client to transfer the asset to the TMS.

If you do not have the Aspera client installed, when you visit the Core Assets page, a message will prompt you to install the Aspera client software:

The first time you perform an Aspera upload you will be prompted to confirm the connection with Aspera Connect. Select the Use my choice for all connections with this host option and then click Allow.

Aspera is a registered trademark of Aspera, Inc. in the United States. faspex is a trademark of Aspera, Inc. in the United States.

Sending/Download History Optimizations

Feature Description

The Sending and Download History pages have been optimized to speed up the display of the data.

What Does this Mean to Me?

The Sending and Download History pages now load significantly quicker than previously.

Browser Warning For IE8

Feature Description

A warning message will be displayed when users access the site using Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).

What Does this Mean to Me?

In a future release we will be dropping support for IE8. Microsoft have already discontinued support and retaining it in the TMS is impeding the ability to update the site for new features and enhancements. From this release, if you access the site with IE8 you will receive a warning message when you log into the site. You can still continue to use IE8 for now but we urge you to upgrade your browser as soon as possible.
