This release provides the ability for recipients of sent assets to download the assets via Aspera.
Aspera Download
Feature Description
Aspera faspex is software that facilitates the high-speed download of assets over the Internet. This is now available to recipients of assets sent through the TMS.
Who Does This Affect?
This change can potentially affect all users, although your TMS must be configured for Aspera and you must have the Aspera client software installed to take advantage of it. If Aspera downloads are not configured for your TMS then please contact your ZOO business development representative who will be happy to discuss your requirements with you.
What Does this Mean to Me?
If you do not have Aspera then this change will not affect your use of the TMS. If your TMS is configured to use Aspera and you receive an 'Assets Transferred' notification, then when you follow the link in the instructions you will now have two download options for all core assets larger than 10MB - the normal download method and also a new high-speed Aspera download. Note that Aspera is not used for assets under 10MB in size.
If you already have the Aspera client installed, when you visit the Download Core Asset page, a new Download Asset Via Aspera button will be available for each asset larger than 10MB. Otherwise, if you do not have the Aspera client installed, when you visit the Core Assets page, a message will prompt you to install the Aspera client software:
- To install Aspera, click the link, download the installer and then follow the installation instructions. The new Download Asset Via Aspera button will now be available to you.
- If you do not want to use Aspera, click the Do Not Use Aspera link and the message will no longer be shown. Note that you can always install it a later date by going to your user profile and selecting Enable Aspera file transfers.
The first time you perform an Aspera download you will be prompted to confirm the connection with Aspera Connect. Select the Use my choice for all connections with this host option and then click Allow.
